ARRIVAL
(Styleframe Sequence Design)
The title sequence for Arrival draws inspiration from the crystallization process of salt, using it as a metaphor for love’s transformation over time. Through this visual language, the sequence captures the eternal cycle of a mother’s love—how it forms, shifts, and endures, just as salt turns to crystal.
02 CONCEPT

Theme: Cycle of Love
In the movie, even after foreseeing a short and sad future with her daughter, Louise makes the decision to bring her daughter into her life. In the face of the predictable loss and pain that lies ahead, Louise’s love for her daughter is timeless. No matter how much sadness is faced, no matter when the story between Louise and her daughter begins, the essence of Louise’s love for her daughter is the same.

Concept:
In this sequence, the process of turning salt into salt crystals shows the eternal cycle of a mother’s love for her daughter throughout time and space. The metaphor of salt transforming into crystals represents how there are multiple realities that time can branch off into, and despite the uncertainty of which path time will flow into, a mother’s love for her daughter remains constant in all realities.
